TSSEZ takes up ₹5-bn industrial park in Odisha

Tata Steel and Special Economic Zone is all set to ink a definitive agreements with four investors for its multi-product industrial park at Gopalpur in southern parts of Odisha at an investment of ₹5 billion The industrial park, sprawling over around 3,000 acres, is made up of two components -- a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) notified for 1,235 acres and the rest being Domestic Tariff Area (DTA). The investors will set up their units within the DTA where TSSEZ is the anchor investor and is providing plug and play infrastructure, chairman of TSSEZ, Arun Misra, said, claiming that the company has obtained the environment clearance. The state Cabinet has approved the land registration and its transfer is expected soon. Development of the Gopalpur industrial park would occur in a staggered manner where in each phase, 1,000 acres is set to be developed. The units will occupy 100 acres of land and their combined investments in turn will generate huge employment avenues. Apart from four domestic investors queued up, TSSEZ has received interest from 70 companies -- both domestic and foreign, he insisted.
