Trimble unveils Sitevision for construction sector
In order to ensure constant surveillance of construction sites, Trimble's civil engineering and construction division is coming up with Trimble Sitevision augmented reality viewer using satellites and Trimble Catalyst GNSS for position and location. Plus, it uses Android phone (another BYOD system) to give viewers 3D augmented 360-degree views of the site. General manager Scott Crozier informed that the GPS/GNSS antenna locates a phone within a few centimeters of accuracy. To monitor progress at site, one can load the work to be done by its completion date. The system will help to better visualize complex plans, underground utilities and proposed infrastructure, find design conflicts early in the process. One will also be able to tap elements visualized on the screen and get a pop up box with detailed information about the components. It can be used in the civil environment and across all kinds of construction applications. SiteVision is not on the market yet, but the company is in talks with prospective customers.
