TN steers clears ₹1,931-cr Salem-Chengapalli highway

The Tamil Nadu government has given the go-ahead for construction of the Salem-Chengapalli national highway where the work largely involves widening of the eight-lane road at a cost ₹1,931 crore. The construction cost of the road would be ₹18 crore per km for the 103-km stretch. The central government has agreed to finance the project. The state’s CM also laid the foundation stone for two new flyovers at Magudanchavadi and Ariyanoor area on the same national highway; these projects are to be constructed at a cost of ₹90 crore. The CM also laid the foundation stone for 53 new infrastructure works of ₹121.55 crore and inaugurated 21 newly constructed projects valued at ₹8.94 crore.
