The Tirupati railway station will soon be upgraded at an investment of ₹500 crore. The Madanapalle- Naidupet section of NH-71, which runs close to the station, has been de-notified by the transport ministry and is being handed over to railway authorities as they need a portion of the highway to expand the station. The expansion of the station is being developed jointly by the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) and the Railway Land Development Authority under the PPP model.
