Tiruchi Corporation Speeds Up Rs 220 Cr Sewage Treatment Plant Construction at Panjapur under AMRUT 2.0

Estimated at Rs 220 crore, the upcoming facility will have a capacity of 100 million litres per day (MLD) and will replace the city’s ageing treatment plant. The new STP will deploy Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) technology for advanced sewage treatment, ensuring that the output meets National Green Tribunal (NGT) and Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) standards.
The upgraded facility will not only handle current wastewater loads but will also accommodate Tiruchi’s projected sewage demand of 140 MLD by 2031, marking a major step toward sustainable urban wastewater management and environmental protection.
