Telangana takes up ₹1,500-cr infrastructure projects
The Telangana government has kick started construction work on road infra projects worth ₹1,500 crore on a priority basis during the lockdown period, informed Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration and Urban Development. Since there will be no traffic on roads it can fast track completion of the projects. The administration has divided the work into three categories -- comprehensive road maintenance, strategic road maintenance, and missing link road, all of which have been put under the supervision of three Chief Engineers. The administration is also carrying out laying of new and CC roads. The government is keen to complete the foundation laying of all the flyovers during the lockdown period. Apart from this, work on the flyover and foot over bridge is also being carried out on a priority basis. Kumar said that there are many roads of capital nature and which during normal times have heavy traffic and during the lockdown they are getting about 12 working hours. He added that the work which is being carried out requires minimal labor and the state administration has provided all the safety protocols for the workers and contractors such as wearing masks, social distancing, and medical check-ups.
