Kerala starts construction work on three flyovers
The Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala (RBDCK) has resumed construction of Kundanoor flyover, said RBDCK managing director R Rahul. The work includes construction of approach road towards the Aroor side and erecting the retaining wall along the bridge, tarring of the flyover, and relaying of service roads. RBDCK has also restarted work on the Edappal flyover at Malappuram. Earlier, PWD (NH wing) had resumed work on the Vyttila flyover as these construction sites can function adhering to the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the health department, which will be monitoring the sites. The administration has divided the road work into three categories -- comprehensive road maintenance, strategic road maintenance, and missing link road, and these have been put under the supervision of three Chief Engineers. The agency is also carrying out laying of CC roads and is keen to complete the foundation of all the flyovers during the lockdown period. Apart from this, flyover and foot over bridge works are also being carried out simultaneously. Contractors have been directed to strictly follow the protocols, which include wearing masks, social distancing, and regular medical check-ups.
