Telangana road network
The Union Transport ministry has recently given approval for the development of 14 multiple road stretches across Telangana at an investment of Rs.3,615 crore. The total accumulated length of these roads is about 570-km and the targeted work would be completed during the current fiscal itself. Of the total roads, Hyderabad-Narsapur Medak, a 60 km stretch, has also got the approval and would be developed at an estimated cost of Rs.400 crore to be developed into uniform two-lane with paved shoulders. Currently, these roads are not uniform in their width and narrow down to even single lanes at several stretches. The Union Ministry had given the in-principle approvals in a record time in the new fiscal and all efforts would be made to prepare detailed project reports at the earliest. The approved road projects also included Rs.782 crore worth road-development related works in Telangana, which also covers Rs.470 crore for strengthening the 146-km Warangal-Khammam road stretch.
