Tata Projects secures Power T&D order of ₹300-cr in Nepal

TATA Projects Limited has received an order of around ₹300 crore from the Nepal Electricity Authority and the contract has been inked between the two. This ADB funded SASEC Power Transmission and Distribution System strengthening project aims to complete the electrification of Nepal's Province Number 2, including augmentation of the necessary distribution system.

The scope of work entails construction and completion of design, supply, delivery, installation, testing and commissioning with associated civil works of 10 Nos. 33/11 kV substations, 323 Ckm 33kV Lines, 950 Ckm 11kV Lines, 1000 Ckm LT Lines and 500 Nos. distribution transformers for rural electrification and distribution network reinforcement in areas – which includes eight districts of Province No. 2 viz. Siraha, Saptari, Dhanusa, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa.

Vivek Gautam, COO – Core Infra, Tata Projects Ltd, said, "Electricity is a necessity for spurring any nation's development and uplifting people's lives but setting-up such infrastructural amenities poses immense challenges due to tough geographical terrain in nations such as Nepal. Hence, we are geared to take up this challenge and complete this project within the stipulated timeline."

Once completed, this project will boost economic activities and enhance people's living conditions across Nepal's Province Number 2.
