Task Force drawing ₹100 lakh-cr infra project pipeline

The Union Government has constituted a task force spearheaded by Secretary Department of Economic Affairs to draw up the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) involving an investment of ₹100 lakh crore to be invested till FY 2024-25. To achieve the target, the task force has already held detailed deliberations with different stakeholders, including Ministries, State Governments, infrastructure companies, developers, bankers, NBFCs, and industry associations, informed chairman of the task force, Atanu Chakraborty. To start with, the Ministry of Finance has released the summary of the report of the task force on NIP for FY 2019-2025 with recommendations on certain generic reforms. The task force will provide its recommendations on changes required to several key sector-wise policies and other reform initiatives by the Central and State Governments. The NIP is a co-operative effort of all the Ministries/Departments of Union Government, States and the private sector and an action plan has been worked out to accomplish the ambitious target of infrastructure investment in the next five years.
