Tamil Nadu takes up ₹209-cr road project

road project
The NH wing of the State Highways Department has started the construction on behalf of NHAI for the Grand Southern Trunk Road from Guduvanchery to Chettipunyam in TN at ₹209.32 crore investment. The road-widening project aims to provide a smooth flow of vehicular traffic and to help reduce accidents. The completion of the road will widen both sides of the state highway as service lanes will come up along the stretch. The space between the lane and the stormwater drain will have paver blocks. The work contract has been awarded to three contractors so that it can be completed within a year. The encroachments have already been removed all along the stretch. There is no need for land acquisition and the road-building agency has only utilized the existing right of way. The shifting cost of utility lines and transplanting trees along the route is ₹21.37 crore and the project is a part of the upgrade of 121 km of the Tambaram-Tindivanam stretch of the GST Road by the NHAI.
