Telangana takes up Rs. 665 cr road projects

Ensuring smooth flow of vehicular traffic in the area, the state government of Telangana has decided to build a 41-kilometre ring road in Khammam to ease traffic congestion in the district headquarters town, said Minister for Roads and Buildings, Tummala Nageswara Rao, adding that the State government has sanctioned Rs. 209-cr for taking up works to finalise the alignment of the ring road and execute the land acquisition process.

In addition, the state has also launched the upgrading of a 100 km stretch of the Vijayawada-Jagdalpur National Highway 221 (new NH 30) at an estimated cost of Rs. 456cr. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) for upgradation of the Kodad-Khammam-Mahabubabad road into the National Highway has already been submitted to the Centre. The new projects would help create a vast National Highway network of more than 200 km in the district, he claimed.
