DMRC assists Hyderabad metro expansion

DMRC Hyderabad Metro
Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) shall collaborate and work together for the expansion of phase II of Hyderabad metro rail network. Both the metros agreed to work on development plans for Hyderabad Metro Rail phase-II expansion including raising financial resources to fund planned expansion. In addition, they have also decided to consider other modes of public transport. In this connection, Managing Director of HMRL, NVS Reddy and Managing Director of DMRC, Mangu Singh, along with their engineers and transportation planners have recently inspected different routes of Hyderabad city which have potential for being covered in Metro phase-II expansion. They will also consider various aspects of intermodal integration between Metro stations, Railway terminals, Bus terminals and other modes of transport.

Among others, they will take up techno-economic feasibility of extending corridor-I (Miyapur-LB Nagar) on both sides towards Patancheru and Hayathnagar and beyond, so that the inner city Metro link is connected to ORR (Outer Ring Road) and the future townships in the growth corridor. The officials also discussed potential Metro Rail phase-II corridors, plugging the gaps in Metro Rail phase-I, planned by the earlier Government and linking corridor-I and corridor-III with extension of Metro corridor-III by about 5 km from Nagole to LB Nagar station of corridor-I and extending corridor-III to Shamshabad International Airport from Raidurg. During detailed deliberations, the MDs of HMRL and DMRC arrived at a broad understanding to work on the directives of the Chief Minister and come up with a plan in the next few months, said official sources.
