Suzlon secures 500-mw wind power contract

Renewable energy generating giant Suzlon has announced that it has won two projects of 300 MW and 200 MW each under the SECI bidding process and the projects are to be implemented in Kutch district in Gujarat. The projects will provide electricity to about 3 million households and curb about 10 million tons of CO2 emissions annually, said CEO, Suzlon Group, J.P. Chalasani, adding that the winning projects is a testament to the customer’s confidence in its technologically advanced and innovative products and services. There is an increased interest from all customer segments to invest in renewable energy in their pursuit of contributing towards mitigating risks of climate change and providing affordable and renewable power for all. With the introduction of the bidding regime, the industry is poised to grow to 8-10 GW annually and the player is committed to partner with its customers to scale it up further and enable India’s transition from a conventional, fuel dominated energy architecture, to renewable energy sources.
