Surbana Jurong wins realty contract in Gujarat

Surbana Jurong, which is Temasek-owned urban and infrastructure consultancy firm, has secured an affordable housing project from the Gujarat Housing Board. The scope of work in the contract includes master planning, concept design and review, and project management for about 15,000 housing units across 12 sites in cities in western India with high population densities - Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Jamnagar, and towns such as Bhuj, Vapi, Bharuch, Veraval, Porbandar and Gandhidham. The project incorporates some of Singapore's best practices in public housing to make Gujarat's public housing more vibrant, sustainable and live-able. According to the company, the concept design draws are the key principles from Singapore's townships, such as connectivity, environmental sustainability, social community, safety, universal design, construction productivity and maintainability. According to the CEO of Surbana Jurong, Wong Heang Fine, the company will be opening an office in Gujarat.
