GDA speeds up ₹558-cr elevated road corridor

Ghaziabad Development Authority(GDA)
The plan to extend Hindon elevated road to Noida's DND flyway has received a major boost with the Ghaziabad Development Authority(GDA) directing the consultant to prepare a request for proposal (RFP) document for inviting bids on public-private-partnership (PPP). The consultant, in March this year, had prepared three alignment routes for the extension and GDA had agreed to one of it. The selected alignment route will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹558 crore but paucity of funds in GDA put the project on the back burner. But now, the agency has been making steady progress and is talking to other stakeholders like the irrigation department etc. The land along the recommended route belongs to the UP Irrigation department and some portion to DDA and GDA. The extension will take Hindon canal route and will cover 7.56km starting from UP Gate near NH9 passing through Hindon canal, Gazipur, Kondli, Gazipur drain, Dharamshala road and then to New Ashok Nagar crossing before meeting DND flyway in Noida. This will increase the length of Hindon elevated road to over 17Km from the existing 10.3km from Raj Nagar Extension to DND and cutting short the journey time from more than one hour to less than twenty minutes and will provide uninhibited access to Noida, Delhi and even to Faridabad.
