Smart Road Scheme gets ₹245-cr infusion in TN

Thiruvananthapuram smart city project has recently received administrative sanction worth ₹245 crore under the Smart Roads component of the Smart City project. Smart Roads and underground ducting component under the Smart City scheme covers a total length of 72.5 km in nine wards under area-based development. The entity has been mainly focusing on implementing Smart Roads scheme along 43-km of roads, which are owned by PWD and KRFB. Smart Roads project involves ₹500 crore worth of investment. After securing funding, the agency will carry out soil testing and the entire exercise will be completed in a fortnight and construction work will be started next month itself, SCTL, CEO P Balakiran said.
