Smart city projects get Rs. 1,864-cr funds

The state government of Karnataka has recently decided to allocate a staggering sum of Rs. 1,864-cr for building smart cities across six urban areas of the state. On this score, it has already cleared Rs. 776-cr for the Smart City Mission for current fiscal and another Rs. 1,188-cr would be given shortly. The cities that are selected are Mangaluru, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Hubballi-Dharwad, Tumakuru, and Davanagere, said sources, claiming that the state is at the top in investment firm, with a venture of more than Rs. 1.40 lakh-cr, making 15 lakh business openings, developing as a good example for different states. Karnataka Global Information System (GIS), first-of-its-kind mission in the country, provided a common platform networking the departments and citizens. The state had found a way to build extra limit of 3657 MW from different sources like fortifying of transmission system, among others.
