Silchar-Saurashtra East-West Corridor to be Completed by June 2027

The Silchar-Saurashtra East-West Corridor, spanning 3,576.55 km, is nearing completion, with 3,480.62 km already constructed. The remaining 95.93 km, primarily in West Bengal and Assam, is under implementation or bidding.
Delays due to land acquisition issues, forest and environmental clearances, financial difficulties, and force majeure events have slowed progress. To address these, the government has streamlined land acquisition, revamped the Parivesh Portal for faster approvals, enabled online clearance for Road Over/Under Bridges (ROB/RUB), and intensified stakeholder review meetings.
This corridor, crucial for connectivity to Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal, holds strategic and socio-economic significance for the Northeast. The revised completion target is June 2027.
