SCR-SCCL inks MoU for ₹927-cr rail line

The South Central Railway (SCR) and Singareni Collieries (SCCL) have inked a MoU for laying a new railway line between Bhadrachalam RoadSattupalli at an investment of ₹927 crore. This new line is being developed for transporting coal from mines located closer in the Sattupalli area. SCR has paid ₹200 crore to Singarenei Collieries to kick start construction. Prior to this, the Railway Board had sanctioned ₹704 crore, after which, SCCL deposited ₹156.38 crore with the Railways for meeting the construction cost. Later on, a revised estimate was prepared for accommodating additional functional requirements to the tune of ₹927.94 crore with the Railways sharing ₹309 crore and SCCL contributing ₹618.55 crore.
