NHAI is preparing a DPR for building four flyovers at Basistha Chariali, Lakhra and Gorchuk on the national highway stretch of Guwahati. Minister of Guwahati Development Department Siddhartha Bhattacharya said that construction will start onc ethe DPR has been submitted. The Guwahati bypass connecting Khanapara and Jalukbari constructed to ease traffic in the city, is now a major traffic hazard for road users. The 18-km long bypass sees heavy traffic which sometimes runs up to Jalukbari and Basistha points. The planned flyovers will address the congestion on the highway.
