SCR clears ₹1,255-cr rail lines in downstream south

The south central railway (SCR) has recently approved rail projects to the tune of ₹1,255 crores, including a rail line between Baiyappanahalli and Hosur which comprises doubling, electric traction and automatic signaling at an investment of ₹424 crores. Apart from this, the 21.7 km line (Chord Line) between Yesvantpur-Lottegahalli-Hebbal-Banaswadi-Baiyappanahalli-Channsandra at a cost of ₹170 crore, and automatic signaling between Baiyappanahalli-Yesvantpur-Tumukuru, Bengaluru-Mandya and Yesvantpur and Yelahanka at an investment of ₹205 crore are also approved. These apart, the conversion of 15 DEMU rakes to MEMU at ₹56 crore and procurement of 11 MEMU rakes at a cost of ₹400 crore have also got approval, informed Additional Chief Secretary, UDD, Mahendra Jain.
