Sarbananda Sonowal Launches ₹582 Cr Projects at Kamarajar Port

Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, inaugurated three key projects worth ₹582 crore at Kamarajar Port in Ennore, Tamil Nadu, during its silver jubilee celebrations.

The projects include Phase-VI capital dredging, with ₹520 crore earmarked to deepen the port’s berth draft from 16 meters to 18 meters, enabling the handling of larger vessels. Additionally, a one-MLD seawater reverse osmosis desalination plant worth ₹37 crore and a ₹25 crore integrated command and control center were also launched.

These initiatives aim to enhance the port's operational capacity and sustainability.
