Saint Gobain
French glass and building materials manufacturer Saint-Gobain has invested ₹1,200 crore at its Sriperumubudur manufacturing complex to expand the facility with a new float glass unit, an advanced magnetron coater and glass solutions lines, and an additional capacity rainwater reservoir. At the inauguration, Chairman and CEO, de Saint-Gobain, France, Compagnie Pierre-André de Chalendar said that India is one of the fastest growing markets for Saint-Gobain. A lower level of penetration of glass products in India offers long term growth prospects. Sriperumubudur is the single largest location for Saint-Gobain and has different capabilities. The company has set up its third float glass factory, which is the fifth facility for the group in India, which will cater to both domestic and export markets. It has a large amount of industry 4.0 built into this and uses early stages of AI for decision making. MD, Saint-Gobain India, B Santhanam, said that the new advanced glass solutions lines will produce double-glazed insulated and laminated glass and new products such as fire safety and bullet-proof glass.
