RVNL Signs Rs 535 Cr MoU with Visakhapatnam Port Authority for Port Infrastructure Development

Under this partnership, RVNL will undertake four major infrastructure projects to strengthen both internal and external connectivity of the Visakhapatnam Port, supporting its growth as a key maritime hub on India’s eastern coast.
These tasks comprise:
Development of Internal Flyovers within Port Limits (₹300 crore): To improve the flow of goods and movements in the internal areas, the construction of flyovers inside the port area will be done more quickly and cargo will move without any stoppage.Development of Bridge to Connect Vacant Port Lands near Airport (₹100 crore): Due to the creation of a new bridge, there will be efficient and strong road links established between the port area that is main and that near the airport which will be in the future, through this, the airport, port lands using these roads will be developed the overall port capacity.
Development of Additional Road and Rail Bridge at Sardar Patel Bridge (₹100 crore): Together with the building of a road bridge, the rail bridge will also be built with the aim of having increased vehicular traffic and freight using the bridge, which also means that there will be a seamless flow of the port's eastern and western sectors.
Study for Upgradation and Modernization of VPA’s Railway System (₹50 crore): The port's railway infrastructure will be first assessed and then a detailed plan will be made on how to upgrade it to capacity and throughput that is acceptable.
The proposed infrastructure initiatives collectively focus on strengthening internal and external connectivity of Visakhapatnam Port through the development of flyovers, new bridges and improvement of Railway System. Upon completion, these projects will decongest internal traffic, ensure seamless cargo flow between the Eastern and Western sectors, enhance multimodal connectivity, and unlock the development potential of vacant port lands, thereby improving overall operational efficiency and capacity of Visakhapatnam Port.
