Bengaluru Smart Infrastructure Limited (B-SMILE) has received bids from four leading infrastructure companies, Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), Adani Group, Vishwa Samudra Engineering, and Dilip Buildcon Limited, for the much-anticipated Bengaluru Tunnel Road Project.

The 16.74-km twin tunnel, connecting Esteem Mall Junction at Hebbal to Central Silk Board Junction in South Bengaluru, aims to decongest one of the city’s busiest north–south corridors. The project will be executed under the Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) model, with a total concession period of 34 years, including construction time. The selected developer will design, construct, operate, and maintain the tunnel before transferring it to the Government of Karnataka.

The tunnel road will be built in two packages, each spanning 8.748 km. Package 1 covers the stretch from Esteem Mall Junction to Seshadri Road–Race Course Junction, while Package 2 extends from Seshadri Road to Silk Board Junction. Both sections will feature twin tunnels with three lanes each, equipped with dedicated entry and exit ramps to ensure smoother traffic flow and reduced congestion.

The proposed project, one of Bengaluru’s most ambitious and debated urban infrastructure initiatives, is expected to transform city mobility by providing an alternative to the heavily congested surface roads and flyovers.
