Rungta Mines secures ₹2,189 cr expansion

In order to expand the steel manufacturing capacity of its integrated steel plant in Kharswan district of Jharkhand from 0.5 million tons per annum (MTPA) to 0.7 MTPA, Rungta Mines, has received green signal for its steel plant expansion project entailing an investment of ₹2,189.97 crore. As per the proposal, the existing plant of Chaliyama steel plant is located on 592.16 acres land and that the expansion phase will take place within the existing land. The raw materials to be used for the existing as well as expansion phase are 3.35 MTPA of iron ore and 1.26 MTPA coal. The iron ore for the plant will be procured from the company's own mines located in Odisha and Jharkhand. Limestone, quartzite and dolomite will be purchased from Rourkela, and manganese ore will be sourced from its Odisha mines. The ore transportation will be carried out through rail followed by road. The company, which is a part of S R Rungta Group, owns iron and manganese ore mines in Odisha and Jharkhand, claimed an official spokesperson.
