Upgradation of NH-25 extension in Rajasthan approved at ₹235-cr
The Indian Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari, announced that the rehabilitation and upgrade of the Ghagaria-Munabao section of District Barmer in Rajasthan's NH-25 extension to a 2-lane road with paved shoulders has been approved at a cost of ₹235.15 crore. The project, which will improve connectivity to NH-68, NH-25, and NH-925, passes through backward districts in Rajasthan and is expected to drive economic development in the region by providing congestion-free traffic movement. The NH-25 extension also serves as a link to the Bharatmala road network running parallel to the international border, connecting Munabao to Dhanana and Tanot (NH-70). In addition, it connects Munabao to the district headquarters of Barmer, where several military bases are located. From a strategic standpoint, the national highway is critical for providing logistics to Munabao along the international border, which is currently a single-lane road.
