TN plans ₹475-cr elevated corridor on Trichy-Karur highway
Tamil Nadu government has planned an elevated corridor for Trichy city and the state highways department has also proposed a 2-km long flyover connecting Trichy-Karur NH with the intersection of Cauvery-Oyamari bridges to bypass Rockfort, Mainguard gate and Chathiram bus terminus areas. The project involves ₹475 crore investment. The corridor would come up between Cauvery-Odathurai bridges and Mallachipuram near Kudamurutti bridge and will bypass Anna statue junction at Melachinthamani and Chathiram bus stand intersection near Kamarajar statue with four lanes. The proposal has been sent to the headquarters to obtain administrative sanction for the preparation of the detailed project report (DPR). For the project, private land has to be acquired and ₹30 crore has been proposed for the purpose. The project also required permission of the Southern Railway to build arms of the bridge to connect Konakkarai road and Karur bypass road with the corridor.
