Telangana govt allocates ₹2,500-cr for Road and Culvert Repairs

Telangana government has released ₹2,500 crore to repair roads and build culverts damaged by monsoon rains. The funds, which have been allocated with ₹1,865 crore for road repairs and ₹635 crore for culvert building, were approved in a recent review meeting chaired by the state chief minister. Officials have identified damaged culverts on state roads in the Karimnagar, Adilabad, Warangal, Khammam, Medak, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Nizamabad, and Rangareddy (rural) circles, and have reported that 1,675 km of the 27,521 km of state roads have been badly damaged in 664 locations due to heavy rain. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) also reported that a total of 1,087 culverts and roads have suffered significant damage due to waterlogging. The government has directed the roads and buildings department to finalize bids for the repair work as soon as possible.
