MoRTH plans elevated road corridor on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway

Delhi-Gurugram Expressway
To alleviate heavy traffic on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway, the Union Transport Ministry has plans to construct an elevated road corridor from Mahipalpur to Manesar as an upper deck of the expressway. The Union Transport Minister has directed the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the elevated stretch, taking into consideration future traffic projections. The Delhi-Gurugram Expressway is a heavily traveled route, particularly by commuters to and from Indira Gandhi International Airport, and is also the main route for traffic in and out of Gurugram and Delhi. Construction of a junction at Mahipalpur to connect the Dwarka Expressway with the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway is currently underway. Upon completion of the junction at Mahipalpur, some traffic towards Gurugram will be diverted from Mahipalpur to it. However, heavy traffic is still expected on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway up to Manesar. Therefore, the Transport Ministry has decided to move forward with the construction of the elevated road, considering traffic load for the next 25 years, according to Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari.
