NHAI to build High-Speed Corridor connecting Durg and Gadchiroli to Hyderabad

NHAI
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to construct a high-speed corridor connecting Durg in Chhattisgarh and Gadchiroli and Bellampalle in Telangana to Hyderabad. The proposed project is a part of the Hyderabad-Raipur economic corridor and will be a greenfield project, similar to the Samruddhi Expressway. The new road will reduce the distance between Durg and Gadchiroli by over 60km, providing a straight-line connection and eliminating the need to take a roundabout route through Chandrapur.

Currently, the distance between Gadchiroli and Durg is 239-km, but the new road will reduce it to 174-km. The NHAI has considered various alignment options and is close to finalizing the route. The proposed road will pass through private land as well as a forest patch. To minimize the impact on the forest area, the NHAI will take mitigation measures and ensure that only the minimum land necessary is acquired.

The new road will provide connectivity to remote areas of Gadchiroli, a Maoist-affected district that is not currently connected by a national highway. Additionally, the increased accessibility is expected to boost industrial development in the area and provide a new route to the tiger reserves.
