NHAI starts groundwork for 93-km Mysore-Madikeri corridor

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI)
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has commenced groundwork for the construction of the four-lane Mysore-Madikeri Economic Corridor Expressway along NH-275. The 93-km long expressway will run parallel to the existing NH, connecting Mysuru and Madikeri.

The route for the expressway, stretching from Paschimavahini in Srirangapatna to Guddehosur near Kushalnagar, has been finalized, and soil testing is currently underway along the entire route. The NHAI has assigned the soil testing work to Global Projects, a state-based company, to assess the sub-surface geophysical conditions. This data will be crucial for the planning and design of the expressway, including the construction of bridges, bypasses, flyovers, and underpasses.

The soil testing process began two weeks ago and is being conducted at 130 locations. Currently, the testing is taking place at Kampalapura near Periyapatna, following completion at 28 other locations. Furthermore, there are plans to construct retaining walls at 45 specific points along the expressway due to its access-controlled nature.

The initiation of groundwork for the Mysore-Madikeri Economic Corridor Expressway signifies progress in enhancing connectivity and transportation infrastructure in the region. This project is expected to improve travel efficiency and stimulate economic growth in the Mysuru-Madikeri corridor.
