MSRDC expedites ₹1,500-cr RR project in Pune

MSRDC
Maharashtra government has initiated the groundwork for the ring road project construction in Pune on a fast-tracked basis. Minister of State for the Urban Development Department, Prajakta Tanpure, informed that the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation is currently in the process of floating tender for the first phase of the project to be built on a public-private partnership (PPP) model involving an investment of ₹1,500 crore.

The proposed ring road will provide access to the proposed Pune international airport at Purandar, which will help citizens to get access to the airport easily and speedily. The 170 km-long Pune ring road will be an eight-lane express highway catering to a vehicle speed of 120 km per hour. It will split the city and the highway traffic, and help in the considerable reduction of vehicular pollution. The state administration believes that the mega project is needed to decongest roads by diverting traffic passing through Pune en route to other areas in Maharashtra.
