MoRTH plans to award 32 port connectivity projects worth ₹8,832-cr

The Indian Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced plans to award 15 port connectivity projects, totaling 352 km in length, in the current fiscal year and 17 additional projects, totaling 474 km in length, in the next fiscal year. These projects are part of a larger plan to undertake 55 port connectivity projects, covering a total distance of 2,772 km.

The projects set to be awarded in the current fiscal year include the four-laning of the Kakinada Anchorage Port-Uppada beach road, connecting NH-16 in East Godavari district at a cost of ₹1,394 crore; the construction of a six-lane road from Naidupeta to Krishnapatnam Port in Andhra Pradesh at a cost of INR 1,399 crore; and the four to eight-laning of NH-53, connecting Paradip port, at a cost of ₹3,600 crore.

The projects to be awarded in the next fiscal year include the four-laning of the road from Nellore city to Krishnapatnam port and NH 5 at a cost of ₹700 crore; the road connectivity to Dhamra port at a cost of ₹1,148 crore; and the road connectivity from Cuddalore port to NH-45A with a RC overbridge at a cost of ₹125 crore.

The ministry has also identified 61 additional projects, totaling 1,264 km in length, as part of its Port Connectivity Master Plan. To date, the ministry has completed 11 major port connectivity projects and the six to eight-laning of NH-4B-SH-54 and Amra Marg, connecting the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Terminal.
