MSRDC to expand Mumbai-Pune Expressway at a cost of ₹900-cr

MSRDC
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has announced plans to expand the Mumbai-Pune expressway at an estimated cost of INR 900 crore. According to MSRDC Managing Director Radheshyam Mopalwar, the project's detailed project report has been completed and is being submitted to the government for approval. Upon approval, construction is expected to begin immediately and take approximately two years to complete. The expansion will involve adding one additional lane to each carriageway to address increasing congestion on the expressway. Mopalwar also stated that the expansion will not require any alterations to existing bridges, but that the tunnels may be narrow with space for only three-and-a-half lanes. Drivers will be cautioned about this potential issue. The completed expansion is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
