MoRTH has launched 8 new National Highway projects totaling 226 km in length and worth ₹1,800 crore in the Igatpuri area of Nashik, Maharashtra. The projects, launched by Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari, aim to transform India's highway network and bring it up to US standards by 2024. These new highways will improve transportation accessibility and safety, reduce fuel consumption and pollution, and facilitate the movement of agricultural and handicraft businesses to local markets. They will also enhance connectivity between rural areas and cities, create new industries and employment opportunities. Gadkari has actively worked to shape the mobility sector in India, bringing in new norms and adopting new technology to advance clean and green mobility.
