Himachal CM Sanctions Rs 10 Crore for Bara Bhangal Road After Flood Damage Review

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu visited the remote tribal region of Bara Bhangal in Kangra district to assess damage caused by recent natural calamities and review ongoing relief and rehabilitation efforts.

During the visit, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite road connectivity to Bara Bhangal by inviting separate tenders for each kilometre of the proposed road to accelerate construction. He also announced the release of Rs 10 crore for the road project and asked officials to explore transporting construction machinery by air to speed up execution.

To ensure uninterrupted power supply, Sukhu announced one diesel generator each for Upper Bara Bhangal and Lower Bara Bhangal until permanent road connectivity is established. He also reviewed the feasibility of reviving the flood-damaged hydropower project and exploring solar energy projects for the region.

The Chief Minister assured residents that the government would engage with telecom operators to introduce mobile connectivity at the earliest. He also directed officials to identify suitable forest land for eco-tourism development and reiterated the government's commitment to promoting Bara Bhangal as a tourist destination.

To strengthen healthcare services, Sukhu announced plans to train local residents in providing primary healthcare support. He also assured that the government would work towards declaring Bara Bhangal a natural farming panchayat, pursue Scheduled Tribe status for the region, increase foodgrain allocation at the local ration depot, and examine the construction of flood protection walls.
