Decks cleared for six-lane the Chennai-Tirupati Road project
The construction of the six-lane Chennai-Tirupati High (CTH) road is finally set to commence. Notices for land acquisition in the Ambattur area have been sent out by road-building agencies. The project was held up due to court cases related to land acquisition. The project will involve the construction of a road over-bridge (ROB) at Pattabiram railway crossing, a grade separator at the intersection between CTH Road and Mount Poonamallee-Avadi Road, and underground sewage lines in Avadi corporation limit. Local residents have called for better coordination among various government agencies to avoid frequent road digging and traffic diversions. Currently, vehicles bound for the Outer Ring Road from Avadi are forced to take a four-kilometer detour. The new six-lane road will ensure smoother vehicular movement and end traffic restrictions that were imposed five years ago.
