Centre approves Rs 6,000-cr road projects in Bhubaneswar
The Central government has approved projects worth about Rs 6,000 crore to build new roads and upgradation of the existing ones in and around the Bhubaneswar city, the state capital of Odisha.
Projects include the construction of a ring road, 29 vehicle underpasses, nine flyovers and three-foot over bridges. The ring road project will alone cost Rs 5,200 crore. The construction work on the underpasses and flyover projects is currently in full swing and the deadline for three foot-over bridge (FOB) projects proposed at Nayapalli, Palasuni and Satsang Vihar is December this year.
While the agreement has already been signed for the FOBs at Nayapalli and Satsang Vihar, the one at Palasuni will be taken up through a separate tender. Furthermore, the construction work on the vehicle underpass near AIIMS Bhubaneswar is being completed on fast tracked basis and the work completion deadline of the Rs 23.5 crore Sansapal (Naharkanta) flyover is by the end of this year.
