Arunachal Pradesh to get Rs 30,000-cr investment for 2,500-km highway
The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh announced a significant development as the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) has given its approval for the construction of a massive 2,500-kilometer highway in the region. This project involves an investment of Rs 30,000 crore. The highway scheme encompasses the construction of a frontier 1,500-kilometer long road connecting West Kameng to the remote Vijaynagar region, along with an additional 1,000-kilometer interconnectivity network between districts.
To ensure efficient execution, various infrastructure building bodies, including the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), and the state Public Works Department (PWD), are working collaboratively on these projects. Currently, the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) is underway, laying the foundation for smooth implementation.
In terms of strategic infrastructure, the Chief Minister highlighted the revival of several inactive landing grounds established after the Indo-China conflict of 1962. These landing grounds are being upgraded to meet standard specifications, enhancing connectivity in the region. Furthermore, the state has successfully implemented various digital initiatives in line with the vision of Digital India. Recently, the Minister of Information Technology inaugurated 200 4G towers across the state, extending network coverage to remote areas.
