Delhi-Amritsar-Katra-Expressway
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched a detailed technical investigation into a fatal construction accident on the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district.

A three-member NHAI expert team inspected the site on Wednesday to determine the cause of the accident and review the launching process. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Package-15 of the expressway in Jakh village, Vijaypur tehsil, when a span segment slipped during construction, crushing a 25-year-old labourer from Bihar to death.

According to NHAI Jammu, the expert team examined the techno-mechanical failure involving the launching gantry, along with the relevant design details and sequence of operations.

The authority said the incident prima facie appears to have been caused by a technical snag during the launching operation. A detailed examination is underway to establish the precise cause and identify corrective and preventive measures.

NHAI reiterated its commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards during highway construction and ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to prevent similar incidents across the project.
