Restoration of 400-Year-Old Barapullah Bridge in Nizamuddin to Begin Soon
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is set to restore the historic Barapullah bridge in Nizamuddin, which dates back to the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir. The 200-metre-long bridge, built over 400 years ago with 12 piers, was recently handed over to the ASI following an anti-encroachment drive.
Delhi's Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, announced that the restoration will be completed within three months, aiming to rejuvenate the bridge and restore its former glory. De-silting of the drain beneath the bridge is currently underway, and ASI will commence the restoration work immediately after this process is finished.
