Raipur gets Rs.983 cr infra booster

In order to build world-class urban infrastructure covering Urban Plaza at Ganj Mandi in Raipur, the city has been granted Rs.983 crore under Smart City program of the Central government as the projects being taken up in the first batch of 20 smart cities in the country. Elsewhere in the country, score of other major PPP smart city projects, which secured funds included Bhubaneswar affordable housing entailing Rs.840 crore investment, Amritsar urban space development – Rs.1,028 crore, Coimbattore water supply-Rs.557 crore, Warangal, Telangana-Rs.611 crore, Shimla tourism and recreation infrastructure – Rs.898 crore, Aligarh smart multi-level parking-Rs.289 crore, Bengaluru tourism and recreation infrastructure-Rs.234 crore. Notably, the Central Government has asked the states to focus on early implementation of smart city projects that have a visible and transformative impact in the lives of citizens in identified cities.
