Railways invite PPP players for ₹50-lakh-cr projects

Southern Railway
The Indian Railways is set to invite PPP for infrastructure projects worth ₹50-lakh crore. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said that the move has opened up new avenues. Coal India has decided to open a new mine and needs to transport 30 million tons of coal every year and is keen to have a dedicated line to transport coal. He said that if an entity wants to set up a semi-high speed corridor between large cities or any two tourist spots and is willing to invest in it, the Railways would be happy to consider the proposal. It is hoped that Public-Private Partnership will unleash faster development and completion of tracks, rolling stock manufacturing and delivery of passenger freight services, said Goyal.
