Railway unveils Rs.37,539-cr rapid rail system

Taking a cue from rail network in European and North American countries, the Indian railway is contemplating to build suburban rapid rail transport system (RRTS) starting from Delhi-Alwar corridor. In this connection, stakeholder‘s workshop was organized recently by NCR Transport Corporation and NCR Planning Board to discuss various aspects of Delhi-Alwar RRTS Corridor entailed an investment of Rs.37,539 crore. The distance between Alwar and Delhi has been planned to be covered in just 104 minutes, Delhi-Mahipalpur (Aero city) in 12 minutes, Delhi-Manesar in 30 minutes and Delhi-Rewari in 57 minutes. The total project is planned to be completed in about 6 years after approval of the detailed project report. The length of corridor-180.50 km, total 19 stations-9 underground, 10 elevated. For the project, the design speed would be 180 kmph, running speed- 160 kmph, average-100 kmph, train frequency will be 5-10 minutes, Delhi-Alwar distance will be covered in 104 minutes. The total cost of the corridors is to be funded by the Central government, concerned state governments and funding agencies.
