Punjab approves Kapurthala Road Project

Kapurthala Subhanpur Road Project
The state government in Punjab has recently cleared Kapurthala-Subhanpur Road Project, which was lying in limbo for a long time. The work on the 12 kilometre long stretch, from Kanjli Wetland Bridge to Subhanpur, is set to start by the end of this month and will be completed before June 30, 2017. Currently, the Kapurthala-Subhanpur road has a width of 23 ft, which would be widened to 33 ft under this project by the public works department (PWD). The state government will also widen the Kanjli Bridge, which has not been repaired for the past one and a half decades. The PWD department had recently declared the bridge unsafe for heavy vehicles and was the most-awaited project for city residents as the road stretch has virtually turned a death trap, an official spokesperson said.
