PMRDA seals tripartite deal for metro project

Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), which is the implementing agency for the Pune Metro Line 3 (Hinjawadi to Shivajinagar) Project on Public Private Partnership, has signed a Concession Agreement with the Consortium of TRIL Urban Transport and Siemens Project Ventures GMBH, an arm of Siemens Financial Services. The project is to be developed on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) model with an initial Concession Period of 35 years. Metropolitan Commissioner, PMRDA, Vikram Kumar, who signed the deal, said that the project will be completed within three years with minimal impact on vehicular movement during construction. PMRDA, in coordination with the Concessionaire Tata and Siemens and other government and local bodies, has already planned alternate routes and diversions. The metro project will help save time in covering the distance between Hinjawadi and Shivajinagar. PMRDA is undertaking other major infrastructure projects such as Pune Mumbai Hyperloop, Ring Road which are important for regional connectivity and overall development of the region. President - Infrastructure, Defense and Aerospace, Tata Sons, Banmali Agrawala, said that his company supports the government's initiatives to improve the quality of life of people through a sustainable and efficient transportation network. CMD of Siemens, Sunil Mathur, said that they were pleased to partner with PMRDA in the prestigious Metro project, and together with the Tata Group, they are providing end-to-end solutions for a state-of-the-art Metro system to ease commuting in Pune.
