PMC floats tender for ₹134-cr flyover project

PMC
The Pune Municipal Corporation has floated a tender for the flyover project on Sinhgad road involving an investment of ₹134 crore. City engineer (projects) Sriniwas Bonala informed that the project cost based on last two years estimation including GST, royalty and other charges and a budgetary provision worth ₹17.05 crore has already been made for the project for the current fiscal. PMC proposed the flyover project after demands from locals, elected representatives and increasing traffic congestion on the arterial road connecting suburban areas Hingne Khurd, Anandnagar, Vadgaon Budruk, Vadgaon Dhayari, Narhe, Ambegaon Budruk, Nanded City and Khadakwasla. The project's first phase includes a 2.5km-long flyover between Rajaram bridge and Fun Time Multiplex at Vadgaon Budruk and once it is completed it would streamline traffic flow on Sinhgad road and will provide direct access to commuters exiting Pune and those entering the city through Sinhgad road junction and going towards Swargate Chowk area. The flyover will have two wings with two lanes each and also a wing for traffic towards Vadgaon Budruk, which will begin after Rajaram bridge chowk while the other wing for commuters travelling to Swargate from Vadgaon Budruk and starts from Indian Hume Pipes junction. The civic body had earlier suspended tendering for the project after private contractors came up with higher quotes than the civic body's budget estimation.
