In a bid to make metro rail facilities available to more and more masses, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has approved the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for two additional Metro routes. In this connection, the standing committee has given its nod to the proposal and has asked the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (Maha-Metro) to prepare the DPR to steer clear the project. While work on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route is already in progress, the new routes will connect Ramwadi to Wagholi and Pune International Airport, said sources, claiming that a formal presentation of the Metro route was given to the corporation last year. Work on the Vanaz-Ramwadi route is in full swing as the area is growing heavy population growth. There are a lot of IT companies coming up there, too and considering this, the body felt that the route should be given extensions on these two patches.
